After an exciting tenure as CEO of Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region, I am leaving our affiliate at the end of December to become the Vice President of Affiliate Success at Habitat Canada.
I am so proud of the entire team at Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region – our board, staff and volunteers - and the work we do to ensure that we are part of the solution, in a community where access to affordable housing is a significant and growing challenge. This has been a challenging year for all of us in Waterloo Region– yet, this team of dedicated community builders amazed me, on a daily basis, with their commitment to our vision of building a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to call home. We rose to the challenges placed in front of us and delivered. In fact, we know that we are stronger than ever. It has been an absolute pleasure to lead this team, during this moment in history.
In my new role, I will take the experiences, lessons, and memories of my amazing time at Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region and apply them in new ways, to support the 54 Habitat Canada affiliates – including ours - across Canada. It is an incredible opportunity – one that reflects well on the great work being done by all of us at our affiliate.
I am excited for the future of Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region. Over the past few years, we have worked hard to strengthen our organizational infrastructure – we have an excellent strategic plan, focused on long-term sustainability, strong partnerships and increased capacity as a team and organization. I believe that our foundation is solid, our team is exceptional and Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region is perfectly-positioned to grow its impact in our community.
I am excited to share that the Board of Directors has appointed Janine Armstrong, our current Director of Community Outreach, as the Interim CEO of Habitat Waterloo Region. Many of you know Janine – she is an extraordinary and creative leader, who understands that strong relationships are the key to our success. Janine has been with Habitat Waterloo Region for over seven years, starting out as the Manager of Volunteer Services and now as a key member of our senior management team. Congratulations, Janine! In the new year, the Board will launch a full recruitment process.
