The first ever Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region build project in 1988-1989 was a home renovation on 14 Devon Street in Kitchener, Ontario.
Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region completed their very first rural project with a house dedication on May 31. Wellesley resident Larry Bisch instigated the project over a year and a half ago when he approached Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region with the plans for a semi-detached on a lot he owned.
Around the region, the Volunteer Action Centre is recognizing those that have gone above and beyond in contributing to their communities. A total of fourteen individuals and organizations were selected for the annual Volunteer Impact Awards, which will be presented on April 19 during National Volunteer Week.
