Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region completed their very first rural project with a house dedication on May 31. Wellesley resident Larry Bisch instigated the project over a year and a half ago when he approached Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region with the plans for a semi-detached on a lot he owned.
Around the region, the Volunteer Action Centre is recognizing those that have gone above and beyond in contributing to their communities. A total of fourteen individuals and organizations were selected for the annual Volunteer Impact Awards, which will be presented on April 19 during National Volunteer Week.
Alexander is one of several women from Grand Valley Institution, the federal women's prison in south Kitchener, who every year leave the prison during the day to work at sites in Waterloo Region.
